Hold a Public Inquiry into >45000 extra deaths linked to austerity since 2010
A recent study published in the BMJ showed a correlation between cuts to social and healthcare funding and higher than expected national mortality rates since 2010. A Public Inquiry should be held in order to determine whether Government Austerity measures have led to an increase in death rate.
Long term under funding of health and social care services has led to widespread suffering, a decline physical and mental health and vulnerable people being put at risk. Lack of funding may also be responsible for >45000 deaths since 2010. If this is the case, harmful government action and policy must be reversed and responsible politicians held to account over these deaths.
