Lower the percentage before Child Maintenance will accept a change of income.
CMS operate a 25% rule. They will not consider a change of income unless it breaches this 25%. So if your income changes from £41000 to £31000 your payments will still be calculated on £41000 as you miss the 25% by £250. So you would continue to pay £300 a month instead of the £230 it should be.
This has happened to many parents including myself. My wage dropped by ten thousand however this was not enough as it does not breach the 25%. My payments should have dropped from £320 to £210 but they never. I totally agree with having Child Maintenance but let's at least make it fair for both parents.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We understand you're concerned about the 25% rule but we're not sure how you'd like to change it. In particular we don't know if you'd like to remove the 25% rule altogether or to lower the percentage.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
