Amend the National Lottery licence to specify the Operator should be a Charity.

Petition Details

The UK National Lottery operator Camelot is a profit making Ltd Company which pays large dividends to Shareholders. It is NOT a registered Charity with the Charity Commission.
A requirement of the Licence should be that the operator be a registered not-for-profit Charity. The Government must act.

Additional Information

Camelot is NOT a Charity and is NOT registered with the Charity Commission. It should be a not-for-profit organisation.
Camelot's majority shareholder is a Parent Company called Premier Lotteries UK Ltd, which in turn is majority owned by a Canadian Teachers Pension Fund, specifically Ontario.
The last 2 year's dividends paid to this Canadian Pension fund (via Premier Lotteries UK Ltd) were £66.6m in 2017 and £84.2m in 2016. These are funds which could be utilised within the UK on good causes.
