Petition Action

Stop recruitment agencies using the national minimum wage to lower pay rates .

Petition Details

Sinse the national minimum was was set up to protect low payed workers ,Employers and especially employment and recruitment firms are using the national minimum wage to profit and rip workers off .It was put in place to protect lower payed workers. and not to reduce semi skilled workers pay rates.

Additional Information

Sinse the national minimum was was set up to protect low payed workers .I have noticed that recruitment agencies and employers are using the nmw to profit further off the previously average paid sectors .Factory jobs advertised well below ten years ago pay rates !These people are ruining pay rates in this country ,Using the national minimum wage for greed and proffitteering ,This has to stop as you can not buy a house on the national minimum wage !This is causing unneeded poverty .

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. As long as they comply with the National Minimum Wage, rates of pay for jobs advertised through recruitment agencies are a matter for the company and the agencies themselves.

You could consider starting a new petition asking the Government to introduce a higher minimum wage for semi-skilled workers.
