Stop payments of public money to former Prime Ministers
As part of legislation introduced by then Prime Minister John Major, former Prime Ministers can claim for the office and secretarial costs that they incur in connection with their public duties after leaving Downing Street.
Over the last five years, three former Prime Minsters alone have cost the taxpayer in total more than £1.7m in public duty allowances.
I do not see why the tax payer should have to foot the bill for the administration costs incurred should a former Prime Minister wish to continue with public duties after leaving office.
The public duty allowances payable to former Prime Ministers should be removed immediately.
