Petition Action

Senior Cabinet Members Should Attend Rio+20.

Additional Information

The house should pressurise all relevant Cabinet Members (Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, SoS for Energy and Climate Change, SoS for International Development, SoS for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) to engage with and attend the Rio+20 UN Conference on Sustainable Development. This is a once in a decade opportunity for the whole world to discuss the defining issues of our time, and generate directives and declarations that will drive policy for many years to come. It would be simply inappropriate for the UK Government not to participate, at the highest possible level, in both the full Summit and its Preparatory Meetings.
