Safeguarding is an important part of providing fair and safe care services both in domiciliary care and the residential setting.

Private care providers contracted with local councils feel that the burden of responsibility is mostly steered towards them when accounting for incidents and safeguarding investigations.

To eliminate and to allow full transparency in the investigating processes and accountability adult protection and safeguarding investigations should be carried out by an independent body and not safeguarding officers which are employed by the local councils,

We feel that having safeguarding officers employed by the council are biased and work in favour off their employer (Local Council).

This is not an open and transparent system and allows councils to abuse their powers of authority.
