Make large companies pay U.K. tax based on global turnover.
If global turnover exceeds £1 bn., base tax on global turnover. Affected companies will then reassign all profits U.K. to avoid tax in Ireland et al. These countries will then have to use the same system to recover revenues. U.K. SME's will still get the tax breaks they need.
Many companies, Apple, Amazon, Google to name the largest have caused outrage by using questionable accounting practice to conceal profits generated in the UK from the revenue. The complexity of the U.K. tax code is a boon to them and their accountants and a curse on everybody else. This is not a new idea. It just deserves to be treated seriously.
