Make Female Genitalia Mutilation (FGM) a more punishable offence in the UK.
FGM is the deliberate mutilation of female genitalia. The world Health organisation describes FGM as any procedure that injures the female genital organs for non medical reasons. FGM has no health benefits and is very harmful to women's health in many ways.
It a form of gender based violence and it is a violation of the human rights act, as well as being a form of child abuse. The lives of both women and girls can be ruined by the effects of FGM and it can cause physical and mental health problems which can continue throughout the victims life.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you mean by "a more punishable offence".
You could start a new petition explaining clearly how you'd like Parliament to change the law.
You'll need to give your full name to start a petition.
