introduce legislation that holds elected officials accountable for their actions

Petition Details

This petition aims to encourage better considered government policy by making elected officials legally accountable should they be proven to wilfully and negligently fail to test their policy proposals and wilfully misrepresent facts in pursuit of these policies.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're not sure exactly what you mean by "legally accountable", for what exactly you'd like elected officials to be held accountable, or who you would like to be responsible for deciding whether these rules had been broken.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
