Make charge/penalty no shows at GP surgery's,out patient departments within NHS
The NHS is said to be short of budget and resources. 'No shows' at GP surgery's and Out Patient departments is estimated to cost the NHS some £160m pa. To help reduce the amount of 'no shows' should there not be a charge/penalty system in place as there is in Italy and Austria?
The BBC reported that some 12million GP and 6.9million appointments were missed in 2012/13 costing the service some £162m. Attempts to reduce the amount of 'no shows' by texting or letter writing simply adds cost and impacts resources to an underfunded service. Individual who abuse the service should foot the cost of their irresponsible behaviour.
