Give funding for autism specialist teachers in senior schools in ALL of Essex
Currently in parts of Essex the Specialist Teacher team are funded to go into primary school and support children on the Autism Soectrum. Senior schools are unable to afford the funding to pay for the Specialist teacher support. This needs to change and the government need to provide this.
Children with autism starting secondary school are only given support for the first term of year 7 in parts of Essex. This lack of support for children with autism is having a detrimental affect on kids that need the support more than ever when they change to big school. How can it then just disappear, this should not be allowed and funding should be provided by the government to senior schools in Essex in order to provide it. This MUST be changed now as we are failing these bright children.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. Support for students with autism is the responsibility of your local council.
You could raise your issue with a local councillor, who represents you. You can use this page to find out who your local councillors are, and how to contact them:

You can also petition your local council - you can find out more here:

You could start a new petition asking for the UK Government to increase funding to Local Councils for specialist teacher support in secondary schools, if that's what you want to happen. You could also start a new petition asking the UK Government to make specialist teacher support for students with autism a requirement in all secondary schools in England, if that's what you want to happen.
