Abolish the British Empire Medal.

Additional Information

The BEM, known as the "working class gong" was scrapped by John Major in 1993 because it entrenched class divisions. Recipients do not get a royal investiture. We believe that there should not be a return to the BEM but that the number of MBEs should be further increased to recognise the services of people who are deemed fit for recognition of their services, no matter what their class or the manner of their service.
