Allow Special Constables the ability to be awarded the QPM outside of Scotland.
Formed in 1831 the Special Constabulary pre-dates the modern police service as a voluntary police service in the United Kingdom, in modern times the Special Constabulary patrol side by side with paid Police Officers undertaking the same duties and tasks but on a voluntary basis.
The Queens Police Medal which can be awarded to Police Officers for distinguished service, currently however it is only in Scotland that Specials are eligible to be nominated for this award, this petition seeks to address this in-balance and permit voluntary police officers throughout the whole of the United Kingdom the same right in their eligibility for the QPM award. The Special Constabulary give tens of thousands of hours to the protecting our communities each year as vital part of policing
