House the homeless in Windsor Castle
The Conservative leader of Windsor Council, Simon Dudley, has called on the police to use legal powers such as the 1824 Vagrancy Act to clear the area and implement criminal behaviour orders before the royal wedding in May. We, the undersigned, call for the homeless to be rehoused in Windsor Castle.
Dudley asserts without evidence that the homeless are making a 'voluntary choice' to remain homeless: https://www.theguardian.com/society/2018/jan/03/windsor-council-calls-removal-homeless-people-before-royal-wedding
Research by Crisis shows an 134% increase in rough sleeping between 2009/10-2015/16: https://crisis.org.uk/media/236823/homelessness_monitor_england_2017.pdf. Austerity and housing costs are key factors.
Windsor Castle is 484,000 square feet with approximately 1,000 rooms.
