Give employment rights to contracted employees with less than 2 years service.
If unfairly dismissed from a position when you have been with a company for less than 2 years, presently you can do nothing about it.
If you have worked for 2 years or more, you can file for unfair dismissal.
Example: Jenifer was promoted after 12 months working, but after 4 months in the new position, Jenifer was dismissed. The reason given was that she was not picking the new job up as quickly as the employer thought she should be.
No further training was offered, or the option to go back to her previous role. This was unfair dismissal, however she had only worked for the company for 18 months. ACAS are not able to assist in this case, which the company knew when dismissing her. Action is needed!
