Public Sector Pension Reform - MP's Pensions First!
If you are going to reform any public sector pensions - lead by example:
We are all repeatedly told by government that Public Sector pensions must be reformed to improve affordability for the public as a whole. Different government departments have different schemes, and it looks like each will have to fight to defend or redefine their benefits.
But note that MPs have the best pensions of the lot: Just 20 years' service secures an index-linked retirement income of half final pay!
So sign the petition to insist that regardless of whether you believe other public sector workers should have their pension rights revised - MPs should lead by example and change their pensions in line with what they propose for teachers etc BEFORE looking elsewhere!
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
MPs Pensions were transfered to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority in October 2011.
