Compulsory for Politicians and political parties to provide evidence for claims
Why do we feel so mislead and lied to by politicians so often? This isn't a petition targeted against any campaign, but a petition to make sure voters are given 100% factual info to make an informed decision. I want to see politicians providing evidence for claims or retracting them if un-evidenced.
'26 per cent of all Brexit voters said they were misled by promises made during the campaign' - independent 2017
'False claim that Labour membership surged by 150,000' - BBC 2017
'Liberal Democrat leader apologises for making 'a promise we were not absolutely sure we could deliver'' - guardian 2012
What I would like to see is;
- campaigns only to be based on fact, not exaggeration
- any claims made to be evidenced or removed within a 48 hour period
- voters to always be given fair, truthful info

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly how you would like this to work. In particular, we're not sure who you would like to be responsible for deciding whether enough evidence had been given, or ruling on whether or not a claim was true.
You might like to sign this petition instead:

Alternatively, you could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
