Petition Action

Reform policy surrounding unaccompanied minors who are resident in the UK.

Petition Details

Unaccompanied minors are being mismanaged and mistreated in the asylum system. Yet there seems to be no repercussions for this. We need stricter policy to ensure the protection of unaccompanied minors.

Additional Information

The need for this stricter policy is being established every week in the UK, as the tabloids claim that there are hundreds of missing unaccompanied minors in Britain. The UK’s official stance is against migrant destitution, which results in support provided for migrants including unaccompanied minors. In actuality, the case here may be that the although the UK does want to help unaccompanied minors that doesn’t in fact happen to the fullest extent under guidelines set by the UNHCR (1997).

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you're concerned about unaccompanied minors in the UK, but we're not sure what specific policy changes you'd like to see.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
