Instant dismissal for Members of Parliament found sleeping at work

Petition Details

Sleeping at work is gross misconduct, which is grounds for instant dismissal, we the people do not pay the wages of MPs so we can watch them sleep, how can these people seriously debate on important issues when they've slept through half the argument? The British people deserve better than this!

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We're not sure exactly what you mean by "instant dismissal" or how you would like this to work. It's also not the case that sleeping would be gross misconduct in all jobs.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could ask for the rules of the House of Commons to be changed, to introduce a penalty for MPs found to be sleeping in the House of Commons Chamber.
