Additional Information

It seems to me that while the idea of this site is excellent - to understand the views of the UK public, the implementation of it is poor - i.e. allowing the public to actually create the petitions.

For example, there are dozens of petitions calling for the reintroduction of capital punishment, each with just one vote - defeating the whole purpose of a petition. Surely we want one petition with 100,000 signatures, not 100,000 petitions with one signature?

My suggestion is that the public should be allowed to suggest topics, but not create the petitions. The moderators of the site can then consolidate suggested topics into one properly worded petition, which we can all then vote on.
