Remove archaic powers of monarchy from UK governance
Recent disclosures have highlighted the archaic powers of Prince Charles to review and, theoretically, amend or veto legislation.
Our Government refuses to discuss the use of such powers and hides behind tradition as an excuse for the maintenance of ancient and opaque practices which are an insult to democracy and the powers of our elected representatives.
Whilst MPs are required to declare every penny of their expenses there is no requirement or apparent interest in declaring the influence royalty may have over democracy.
We are mature and rational citizens and should not be required live in a throw back to feudal system of governance accepting on trust that such powers are never used in practice.
