Petition Action

Admit that the shame of Mental Illness Diagnosis makes some people Suicidal.

Petition Details

It is against the purposes of having Mental Health Care to retain a system that makes people's problems worse than they already were. There should be a system of review to identify both Misdiagnoses and cases where symptoms are not severe enough to be worth treating.Psychiatric Opportunism must stop.

Additional Information

Psychiatrists are incentivised by Target Culture to write patients up as severely Mentally Ill when in fact they are mildly eccentric, or indeed as Delusional when they have in fact led interesting lives that they could prove the facts of if given a chance. This creates a subculture of Pseudopatients who are receiving care they don't need, and this is a waste of NHS resources.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you're concerned about the effect that a diagnosis of mental illness can have, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
