Insurance companies targeting the elderly with excessive home insurance renewals
The need to protect vulnerable people who are unable to look for and change to more competitive deals with alternative on-line providers.
I have personal experience of a number elderly persons receiving excessive home insurance renewal premiums which were four or five times market rate.
This is due to the insurance company's understanding that the elderly could be without internet access and would find it difficult to move to other providers.
They then price their renewal offers with this in mind.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand you are concerned about the effect of costly insurance renewal premiums on older people, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
