Reduce CMS % recognise the NRP right to meet basic living expenses rent etc.
Child Maintenance is calculated on Gross income and upto a maximum of 40% of the non resident parents income. This income is putting Non Resident Parents below the minimum wage set by the government forcing paying parents/2nd families into poverty yet the recieving parents benefits are not affected.
Example: I'm an nhs worker on Band A £7.88 phr working 34hrs pwk = £13931 gross, paying £35.76 pwk CMS totalling £1858.52 per year. My £7.88 hourly rate after maintenance = £6.82 gross, £6.50 phr net income to provide for a family of 4.
My current partner/children should not be financially better off if we seperated or rights to education affected
Example: Stepdaughter unable to attend college as we couldnt afford the kit, bursary calculated on gross income yet CMS didnt come into our household.
