Petition Action

Change the way that CMS calculates and grants child maintenance.

Petition Details

The way CMS calculates and grants child maintenance gives perfect and unfortunately fully legal oportunity to greedy (receiving) parents to manipulate and to control the time that child is allowed to spend with other (paying) parent. This affects the child and paying parent relations and lives.

Additional Information

Based on my own experience, and all the stories I read and heard mainly from fathers, about how their contact with children was affected by other parent, purely for financial benefits. Because one of the factors taken to the account by CMS is the time child spends with a paying parent. It is very easy for receiving parent to get more money and affect child live routine , only by reducing, controlining and manipulate the time that child spends with paying parent (mainly father).

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what changes you'd like to be made to the way that child maintenance is calculated.
