The Government to introduce an Irish Language Act into Northern Ireland.
The British Government is obliged to introduce an Irish Language Act into Northern Ireland as was agreed in the St Andrew’s Agreement of 2006. 12 years later, they have failed to do this. It is time they followed up on this legally binding agreement and did what is right.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Since the restoration of devolution in May 2007, language issues have mainly been the responsibility of the devolved Administration in Northern Ireland.
You could start a new petition calling on the UK Parliament to take back this responsibility and then introduce an Irish Language Act in Northern Ireland, if that's what you would like to happen.
