Petition Action

We call for a national referendum on whether HS2 is good value for money

Petition Details

estimate of cost in total of HS2 is 140 Billion pounds
total UK population estimate is 65 million
By my calculations this is over 21,000 per head of Capita here in the UK

Additional Information

By other country,s standards HS2 is already out of date.
I say this having been on the latest version of the Chinese bullet train (due to be superseded in the next year or so)

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're not sure exactly what question you'd like to be asked in a referendum. We're not sure whether you'd like there to be a referendum on whether HS2 should happen.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
