MPs who benefit from tax-avoidance schemes should be denied voting rights
MPs who benefit - either directly or indirectly, via a spouse or relative - from offshore tax-avoidance schemes should have no voting rights in the House of Commons, since tax avoidance demonstrates a readiness to put personal interest ahead of the interests of the country.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We're not sure what the role of an MP without voting rights in the House of Commons would be.
The House of Commons already has a Code of Conduct for MPs. MPs are already required to register and declare financial interests, and to avoid conflicts of interest.
You can find the Code of Conduct for the House of Commons here:
www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/standards-and-financial-interests/parliamentary-commissioner-for-standards/code-of-conduct-and-rules-of-the-house/
You could start a new petition asking for a specific change to the Code of Conduct, if that's what you would like to happen.
