Permanently close off the island to the public in the Hampstead Heath main pond.
Recently, Hampstead Heath finished a large scale development, improving the main pond. It includes a large island connected to the bank by a walkway which they are considering to open to the public. In my opinion, the island should be cut off to allow a peaceful habitat for the waterfowl.
This is a matter of protecting what little nature we have in our urban environment. This will provide the birds with a peaceful area to nest and just live in general. The benefit of experiencing these beautiful creatures outweighs the sacrifice of the island.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Hampstead Heath is managed by the City of London, not the UK Government or Parliament.
There's a Hampstead Heath Consultative Committee which provides a forum for local residents and users of the Heath to comment upon the management of the Heath.
