I think children should be taught about serious topics throughout education.
Needing to memorise poems is pointless, from my point of view. This is because growing up and looking up to my family I do not see them worrying about, for example, what the conceit of John Agard's "Checkin' Out Me History" was and quotes to prove that, rather them talking about financial issues.
Some of these issues may have been as a result of not being informed about them throughout education.
It is not only me who has experienced situations like I have previously talked about. After consulting with numerous acquaintances and close friends, they too have told me about similar situations they have experienced.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you mean by "serious topics".
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
