Charter to improve disrupted travel resilience
Key failures in lack of travel companies duty of care for the travelling public:
- EC Nr 261/2004 inadequately protects vulnerable and distressed members of the public when travel disruption occurs.
Statistics indicate 12% of various modes of travel have some form of travel disruption.
In relation to sever weather disruption, companies fail to properly carry out risk assessments on the potential of 100's of flights, trains or buses being cancelled and the impact on stranded passengers.
Proposal is for the decision to implement - new disrupted travel protocols to be taken by independent expert regional 'travel cobra committees' and not delegated back to the travel provider.
