Petition Action

Stop the drugging and keeping of big cats for tourist amusement

Petition Details

Recently, tigers and lions have become the centre of a cruel and barbaric attraction. The now 'in thing' to do is have your picture taken with a tiger or lion which is fuelled completely by tourists and celebrities.

However, these animals are drugged up and live in vile conditions.

Additional Information

The UK has worked hard at ending animal cruelty and continues to do so. However, much of Thailand is only just recognising the concept of animal welfare. The now 'in thing' to do is have your picture taken with a tiger or lion which is fuelled completely by tourists.

However, the truth behind these 'tiger selfies' is a sad and heart-breaking scene. The animals are drugged to ensure they are 'safe' to have selfies with. Furthermore, the conditions in which they are kept are cramped and filthy.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

You could start a new petition asking the UK Government to raise this issue with the Government of Thailand, if that's what you would like to happen.
