Get Michael Gove to maintain farming subsidies after Brexit.
Under current EU legislation farmers in the UK receive 3 billion pounds year in subsidies mostly in basic payments which are based on per acre owned of land.
Michael Gove the environment secretary has pledged post Brexit to maintain the basic payments for most farmers for a transition period only. He is in the meantime reviewing several options to cap the payments and introduce progressive reductions.
The petition is to maintain the payments to the farmers.
British Farming employs 3.8 million people and is a business worth 109 billion. The idea of the petition is to educate the public about the value British farming has on the country and ask for their support by signing a petition to lobby their MP’s to support continuing subsidies for British farmers.
