General Election Required in 2012
The General Election in May 2010 should be declared null and void.
The reason for a new General Election is that the Coalition have been elected on a mandate that has now been broken, therefore their Election campaign is invalid.
All General Elections must be fought on a mandate and it is that mandate that the electorate vote upon.
Therefore to ensure participation by the Electorate, an MP can only be elected if they receive at least 50% of the registered electoral register. Any turnout that does not meet the required minimum gives up that seat and therefore reduces the cost of Government. To protect this, the voting process must be mandatory, ensuring a high voting turnout.
50% is the minimum votes required to take a seat at Westminster. Any less than that, the voters have declared that constituency seat surplus.
