Petition Action

Make hostels a safer place for the homeless to many now feel safer on the street

Petition Details

To many people are refusing to go into homeless hostels because of fear of being mugged by people staying there,
people are freezing to death on the street because they feel safer there.
Hostels also take early release prisoners making them an open prison without security. Make them a safer place

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

Homeless shelters aren't directly the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament. They're usually run by charities or local councils.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could ask for a law setting specific safety standards for hostels.
