For It to be made a proper offence for newspapers to misinform the public.
There has been so many stories in the press in the last decade that have influenced peoples thinking, yet have been proven to be totally fabricated. Particularly on subjects of race, religion, immigration. As it is now the papers can say what they like without much consequence.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you mean by "it to be made a proper offence for newspapers to misinform the public."
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
