Consolidate duplicate petitions
This a copy of Andy Robert's e-Petition , I think it should appear on every e-Petition to Consolidate duplicate petitions on the same sites.
It seems that while the idea of this site is excellent - to understand the views of the UK public, - implementation of is poor - i.e. allowing the public to actually create the petitions. There are dozens of petitions calling 'for the reintroduction of 'capital punishment' for example: each with one vote - defeating the whole purpose of a petition. We want one petition with 100,000 signatures, not 100,000 petitions with one signature? The suggestion is that the public should be allowed to suggest topics, but not create the petitions. Therefore the moderators of the site should consolidate suggested topics into one properly worded petition, which we can then vote on.
For the existing petitions already signed, votes for similar issues should be accumulated by the moderators into one petirion covering all the similar topics.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.
You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
