Place on hold the new legislation under the Roads (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act
The act did not receive public consolation on the affect it would have on community's, resulting in groups being placed at major financial disadvantage than the larger commercial events, the most disadvantaged being the small poorly funded local community groups.
The local Christmas Lights festival and many other local events run by community's, now requires to apply for a licence to run events at a cost of £269. 00 each, plus employ and finance a Road traffic Management firm to set out a road traffic plan. The average overall total cost would be in the region £1000.00 per event. The task was normally done by a joint PSNI and community group at no cost other than the hire of raod traffic signs.
