Petition Action

Make it illegal for "chuggers" (charity muggers) to accost people in public.

Petition Details

A petition for those of us sick of walking up and down high streets in towns and cities and being accosted by people working for charities trying to engage me in conversation with a view to signing me up for donations. It should be made illegal. If we want to donate we will go to them.

Additional Information

Lincoln High Street, like most others is awash with people accosting you on behalf of various charities, sometimes as many as half a dozen. Fed up waving them away. If you feel the same, sign this petition.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We're not sure what specific action you'd like banned.

If you'd like it to be illegal for people to ask for money for charity in the streets, you could start a new petition about that.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
