Make Shoebury & Southend safe; increase police to tackle escalating knife crime
We need more police walking our streets day & night to prevent knife crime. My 19-year-old & his friend were attacked last week. Three men pushed them to the ground and pulled a knife on them. This is not isolated. In Jan & Feb there were 23 reports involving possession of a weapon in the borough.
In a local population of 180k, there was an estimated 2 reported knife crimes a week last year. Police stats show that there have been 23 reported incidents involving possession of a weapon in January & February already in 2018. Over an 8-week period, that’s nearly 3 reported attacks a week.
