Public Health Issue Petition: to reduce gun & knife crime in London

Petition Details

Since January 2018, there has been 48 deaths from gun or knife crime. A majority of lives lost are teenagers or young adults.

We urge the Government to recognise this as a Public Health issue; to manage the cause and effect of this epidemic impacting those living and working in London.

Additional Information

We need to have this issue addressed immediately in seeking to reduce violent crime significantly in the Capital.

We request that the Government urgently consider

- Increasing police presence on our streets
- Introducing counsellors into the education system to support students
- Providing more opportunities for young people

Government agencies need to work with young people to hear their experiences and learn what systems are needed to reduce the violence on our streets.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
