Ban plastic shopping bags. Offer paper, cotton or hessian bags as alternatives
It was reported that despite introducing the 5p charge, major shops in England still sold 2.1 billion single-use plastic bags in the last financial year.
I propose to introduce a ban on all plastic bags. Retailers should offer either; paper bags or cotton bags (made from recycled materials).
Despite extending the 5p charge on single-use plastic bags, major retailers in England still sold 2.1 billion in the last financial year.
