Please remove age restriction in s3(5) of the British Nationality Act
Our son was denied an application to register as a British citizen because he had just turned 18, and informed by Home Office that his only path to citizenship was settlement / ILR (£2389 + Life in UK test £50) followed by naturalisation (£1330 + £20 for biometrics + £80 citizenship ceremony).
Please remove the age restriction to register as a British citizen in section 3(5) birth abroad to parents who are British by descent but now domiciled in UK. Why does the entitlement under British Nationality law end upon reaching the age of 18? Article 8 / Human Rights Act 1998 and UN Declaration on Human Rights state inter alia "The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State."
