Legislation that all washing machines in UK have effective microfibre filters.
Microfibres are the most abundant form of microplastic pollution. Washing machines provide a pathway for fibres into marine and terrestrial environments. Many commercially important species ingest fibres with harmful consequences to theirs and human health (i.e. cancer).
