MPs to disclose personal interest in EU membership prior to voting on EU issues
Currently members of the House of Commons and the Lords are voting on EU membership issues where they have personal interest. This is natural but they should disclose any personal interest in order to provide transparency and credibility to their voting on behalf of the UK.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
The House of Commons already has a Code of Conduct for MPs. MPs are already required to register and declare financial interests, and to avoid conflicts of interest. We're therefore not sure what further action you'd like the Government and Parliament to take.
You can find the Code of Conduct for the House of Commons here:
www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/standards-and-financial-interests/parliamentary-commissioner-for-standards/code-of-conduct-and-rules-of-the-house/
You could start a new petition asking for a specific change to the Code of Conduct, if that's what you would like to happen.
