Authorisation to home owners to inflict non-lethal force to those who trespass and/or attempt to burgle property.
Enable members of the public and home owners to intervene when they witness a break-in and if they feel they could be of use, or own the property and wish to protect it. Many refrain from doing so from fear of being prosecuted.
It should be legal to subdue the criminal and restrain until the police arrive, however excessive force is unacceptable unless they are armed and willing to attack.
