Apology from British government for 1919 Jallianwala Bagh Massacre in India

Petition Details

On 13 April 1919, Col R. Dyer of British Indian Army ordered soldiers to fire onto a crowd of pilgrims gathered in Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar, India to celebrate the holy festival of Baishakhi. Dyer got all exits blocked to deliver maximum fatality killing hundreds of innocent unarmed civilians

Additional Information

Well documented incident which is the worst among many crimes committed by the colonising British. The pre-planned massacre puts the official deaths as 387. Dyer admitted that 1650 rounds were fired into a trapped crowd including elderly, kids and women. Unofficially casualties are estimated to be over 1000.

On the centenary of this horrific crime, the british government must tender an apology to the people of India in 2019
