Petition Details

Whilst there is undoubtedly justification for the UK to support less fortunate countries on an on going basis, it seems that we give large amounts of hard earned tax payers money to country's with better finances than we our selves have.

Additional Information

An example;
Britain's foreign aid budget is being used to cut smoking in China and keep homes in India cool rather than going to the world’s poorest countries, a Government watchdog warns today.

Ministers are accused of dishing out a £1.5billion fund for international research projects ‘in haste’ instead of making sure it is targeted at those most in need.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you're concerned about spending on overseas aid, but we're not sure what you'd like the question in a referendum to be.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
