Petition Action

Change laws on trespassing which makes landowners accountable for injuries

Petition Details

A trespasser can sue the landowner if they get injured on their land, even if the land has no right of way. There is no respect for boundaries and should livestock chase or injure a trespasser, even on private land, it will be the proprietor's fault regardless of efforts to stop people entering

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We understand that you would like the laws on trespassing to be changed, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what changes you'd like to see to the law.
